Lightning MMA is the home of head instructor James “Lightning” Wilks and the premier Orange County MMA gym. After Season 9 of the Ultimate Fighter, James decided to share his knowledge of MMA instruction with Orange County by opening Lightning MMA.
Our 3200 square foot facility features huge mat space, gym equipment, full locker room with shower, changing area, and lockers. And, most importantly, the world class instruction available from James Wilks and our other instructors. The gym is conveniently located in Laguna Hills California.

Our Classes
At Lightning MMA we have a variety of classes to choose from, there’s something for everyone. We have our standard Mixed Martial Arts and Jiu Jitsu classes for those just getting into the sport. These classes will guide you through techniques as well as give you a good workout. Our classes are small so every individual gets personal attention to improve their game at each class.
We also have a Cardio program for those who want to focus more on getting in shape. These classes are great for anyone looking to get a great workout and have fun at the same time. If you’re tired of running on the treadmill or the boring classes at your local Orange County gym, this is for you.

Our Instructors
At Lightning MMA we believe that having high quality instruction is the most important part of a Mixed Martial Arts school. That’s why we make sure that you get to train with professional fighters like James Wilks and Danny Suarez as much as possible. All of our MMA and Jiu Jitsu instructors have fought in professional MMA fights.

Our Gym
Lightning MMA has one of the most impressive MMA gyms in Orange County. At 3200 square feet the facility is just the right size, large enough to have two classes conducted simultaneously and yet still have the feel of a small, personal, gym.
Our gym has a cage for MMA training and more mat space than most gyms in Orange County. Also included are amenities like: shower, changing room, massage room, lounge area, equipment and nutrition shop, and much more!
Although we have high class facilities, our primary focus is always to provide the best instruction possible. In order to get the most out of your training and have a good experience we provide everything you need to get the most out of your workouts.

The Cage
Lightning MMA is now home to a full size Strikeforce replica cage. This makes Lightning MMA an attractive home for professional fighters looking to mimic the feeling of being in the cage on fight day.
We know that there’s no better way to train for a professional fight than to do it in a cage like the one you’ll be fighting in. The cage also gives the instructors at Lightning MMA the ability to teach techniques that apply specifically to being inside a cage.
