UFC 204 Preview: Bisping vs Henderson

UFC 204 takes place this weekend in Manchester, England with British fighter Michael Bisping takes on Dan Henderson from the USA in the headline fight on the card.

The fight is in fact a re-match as the two fighters met 7 years ago with Henderson proving victorious with a stoppage in the second round.

The tables have turned however with Henderson now being the challenger for the Middleweight title and will have to beat Bisping in his own backyard in Manchester.

There is sure to be a partisan crowd to cheer on the home favourite who will aim to make Henderson’s job that bit more difficult once they enter the Octagon.

Maybe the pressure is on Bisping, having to perform in front of an expectant audience. He said words to that effect just earlier this week.

“I wanted to be champion for a long time. I’ve achieved that. You want to be a defending champion, and now I’m doing it in my hometown. Of course there’s massive pressure.” said Bisping.

Bisping took the belt from Luke Rockhold in June with a stunning performance which destroyed Rockhold within the first round.

That was sweet revenge for Bisping who’d been beaten by Rockhold previously by submission.

Henderson, now 46, will be a tough opponent however you have to wonder whether age will play it’s part.

All will be discovered on Saturday evening in Manchester.

The weigh in for the title fight went without any issues – both fighters making the 185 weight with Bisping coming in at 185 and Henderson 184.

Unfortunately one fight was scratched from the card as another local fighter, Ian Entwistle, became ill in his attempt to make the weight and had to pull out from the fight. His opponent Rob Font successfully made the weight however due to the late notice, the card is now shortened by one fight.
